Every business needs a maternity leave – an incubator time – to grow and develop with some financial freedom, and leverage.
Allowing yourself the time and financial cushion to build your business is essential – and that’s why your actual maternity leave is a brilliant time to just do it!
ARE YOU ON THE TREADMILL OF LIFE?
Sometimes we just carry because staying on the treadmill of life, and school routine is easier than making a change.
Making a leap is scary, and takes courage, but it’s also flipping fantastic to take a step closer to living the life we want to live.
HOW TO SET UP A BUSINESS WHILE ON YOUR MATERNITY LEAVE
When I was on my maternity leave, I felt sick everytime I thought about going back to work. I couldn’t bear the thought of leaving little one, and then the hours and the commute were freaking me out. I knew that I had to find another way to make things work.
I started coaching mums in the park as we walked our babies while they slept. Most of the time I managed a full hour of coaching, and munchkins happily slumbered.
I did it for free and it helped me gain confidence, and helped my mum friends work out what they wanted to do.
It helped me to pluck up the courage to tell my boss that I wasn’t going back to work… and it helped me get the confidence to do this as a full-time business.
WHY IT’S NEVER THE “RIGHT TIME” TO START A BUSINESS:
Starting a business isn’t something that has to be done with fanfare and a full scale marketing campaign, but it does require grit and gumption.
Now I get to manage my hours around my family, and I get to do work that I feel passionate and excited about!
I’ve just written this blog post for The Mum Club about why we think it’s never the right time to start a business…. There’s never a perfect moment. It just requires us to take action and make that leap into the unknown…
