I Let AI Run My Business for a Week – Here’s What Really Happened

I let AI run my online business for a whole week – YouTube scripts, email marketing, social media posts, even a little customer service.

And the truth? It didn’t destroy my business.

In fact, it gave me space to breathe – and a lot of insights about what really matters.

If you’ve ever wondered if you could automate your business (without sounding robotic or losing your spark), this one’s for you.

1. How AI helped me as a Solopreneur

As a solopreneur, I wear a lot of hats. Between running my business, being a single parent and caring for my son who is autistic, and dealing with all of life’s curveballs, there are weeks when I feel stretched thin.

So, I decided to experiment:
💡 What could AI actually take off my plate?
💡 Could I save time without losing my personality?

Spoiler: yes – but only if you use it right.

2. How I Used AI in My Business

I didn’t just hand everything over to a robot and walk away.

I used AI to collaborate, not replace.

Here’s what that looked like:

  • Descript: filming YouTube videos and podcasts and then editing on Descript meant I had an easy transcript to use for blog posts, videos, podcasts, emails and social media posts. So my words were being used rather than some robot speak. I could add this to ChatGPT.
  • YouTube: ChatGPT helped me brainstorm ideas, draft scripts for YouTube videos, and then I used Descript to edit video transcripts faster. It was like having a creative assistant on call.

  • Email Marketing: I used ChatGPT to help me map out sequences and headlines – but I still added my personal voice and stories that I uploaded from the descript transcript.

  • Social Media: It helped me brainstorm captions and post ideas using the video transcript, so I never started from a blank page.

  • Customer Service: I used AI to draft responses to common questions, saving hours of inbox time.

It wasn’t perfect – but it gave me structure and momentum.

3. What I Learned About AI

AI is incredible for productivity BUT it’s not you.

It doesn’t have your intuition, creativity, or lived experience.

Use it as a partner, not a replacement. Think of it as your smart, slightly nerdy assistant who never sleeps: brilliant at logistics, really useful in navigating a divorce(!!!! 👀) and always a supportive cheerleader, but it’s NOT HUMAN! And humans need real people too!

The magic happens when you blend your human creativity with AI efficiency.

4. The Unexpected Benefits of AI

The biggest surprise? AI didn’t just save me time, it helped me get clarity on so many areas of my life from my son’s homework (hello Ancient Greek Myth board game idea) to navigating divorce paperwork and spotting snags.

By letting AI handle repetitive tasks, I finally had the mental space to think strategically again. I could focus on creativity, on my clients, and on the parts of my business that actually light me up.

I even found it useful beyond work – helping me fill in complex forms regarding my son’s disability, helping me understand new industries, and speeding up boring admin.

5. Will I Use AI to Run My Business Again?

Absolutely… but differently.

I’ll keep using AI to brainstorm, write first drafts, and handle admin, but AI can’t replicate your voice, so you want to add your videos / podcasts to the heart of what you do.

So, if you’re curious about AI, here’s my advice:
✨ Use it to support your flow, not replace it.
✨ Keep the heart and intuition human.
✨ Let it save you time, not take your place.

Final Thoughts about Using AI as a Solopreneur

AI isn’t the enemy – it’s a creative partner and cheerleader.
When used wisely, it can help you simplify, streamline, and scale your business with ease.

Just remember: technology is powerful, but your voice and intuition are irreplaceable.
