How to have that courage to tell difficult stories

Having the courage to tell difficult stories is a strength.

What’s painful or embarrassing is your greatest strength.

Sharing your story takes courage, but there is strength in being vulnerable.

The first time I went to the shop to buy incontinence pads, I was too embarrassed to buy them.

I was ashamed to talk about it with my doctor, my husband and my friends.
I realised that if I wasn’t going to embrace my weaknesses, no one else was going to.

Sharing your story takes courage, but there is strength in being vulnerable.

Sharing stories that are embarrassing, or difficult takes a lot of guts and it’s hard to do when you first start sharing your story. The more that you talk about the issue, the easier it gets.

Steps on how to get the courage to tell difficult stories

Write down your story, and if you find yourself procrastinating, then set a timer and splurge out your story.

Don’t worry about it being “perfect” or grammatically correct, just focus on telling your story.

Practice telling your story in front of the mirror,  and feeling comfortable saying it out loud.

Once you’ve honed and refined your story, you can start practising with others.
