From Bro Marketing to Flow: How Simplifying My Business Saved My Sanity

There was a time in my business when I was doing all the things.

✅ Posting daily
✅ Running Facebook groups
✅ Sending more emails
✅ Getting up earlier
✅ Working harder and harder

On paper, it looked like I was doing everything the “gurus” told me to do.

In reality, I was exhausted. Drained. And heading straight for full-on burnout.

I couldn’t keep going the way I was working. It no longer worked for me, my life, or my business.

Something had to change.

When “Doing All the Things” Stops Working

I was deep in the world of shoulds.

  • I should post every day.

  • I should do massive live launches.

  • I should spend lots of money on Facebook ads.

I was trying to copy what the big names were doing – the multi-million-dollar businesses with huge teams and “hustle harder” energy.

It was full-on bro marketing: push harder, strive more.

Bigger numbers. Bigger launches. Bigger everything.

The problem? I hated it.

I didn’t enjoy how I was working. I felt completely out of alignment. And it absolutely did not work for my family.

Why Hustle Didn’t Work for My Life (and My Autistic Son)

Behind the scenes, I’m not just a business owner – I’m a mum to an autistic son.

I’d built my business so I could have: freedom, flexibility and the ability to actually be there for him

But the way I was running things… did the opposite.

❌ I was trying to pull off massive launches.
❌ I was spending thousands on ads.
❌ I was stressed about tech, numbers and performance.

I still remember one big launch where I’d spent a huge amount on Facebook ads and the tech went wrong…  Facebook started playing up and the pressure was intense.

It was horrible. It didn’t feel like me.

And it made me question if I even wanted to do this business anymore.

I’d created a business model that was completely out of sync with how I naturally work, what I value and the kind of mum I want to be.

My son will always come first – and yet I felt trapped in this hamster wheel I’d built in the name of “success”.

Realising I’d Lost My Creativity (and My Feminine Energy)

Somewhere along the way, I’d slipped out of my natural, intuitive way of working and into a very masculine, alpha, push-harder mode.

I felt disconnected from my creativity, my intuition and my own flow and feminine energy

And that wasn’t me.

So I started to gently recalibrate.

I went back to the practices that had always supported me:

🌟 Journaling

🌟 Meditation (I’ve meditated for over 20 years)

🌟 Quiet time with my own thoughts

I let myself soften, I turned down the noise from people I didn’t actually want to listen to. And I started listening to me again.

The Power of Reconnecting With Intuition

Once I slowed down enough to hear myself, something beautiful happened:

✨ Creative ideas came back.
✨ I started dreaming up offers that felt right.
✨ I designed products that were in alignment with who I am and how I want to live.

Instead of pushing and forcing. Trying to hit arbitrary “big launch” numbers… I began to create from alignment, intuition, and flow.

From that place, sales started to feel more natural.
Conversations felt warmer.
My business began to work for me again, instead of against me.

Simplifying Everything: Less Hustle, More Ease

Alongside the internal shift, I radically simplified the external side of my business.

Here’s what that looked like:

❌ I stopped chasing numbers just for the sake of it

❌ I pared back my offers and focused on what truly worked

❌ I let go of having a big team I constantly had to manage

❌ I made my business more nimble so I could pivot with ease

Before, I’d built all these systems and SOPs and layers – and in the process, I became one step removed from the work I loved.

I felt like a product being delivered by a machine.

By simplifying, I got to be creative again. I reconnected with my clients and I enjoyed the conversations.

My business felt like me again.

Choosing a Softer, Gentler Way to Run a Business

You don’t have to choose between a profitable business and a softer, gentler way of working

You can have both.

Now, my business:

  • Operates from a calmer, more feminine energy

  • Is easier to run around my son’s needs

  • Has fewer moving parts and less drama

  • Feels more joyful, spacious, and aligned

I work when it works for me and my energy.

For example:

  • One day I might be super productive and fully “on”

  • Another day, if I feel off, I’ll tidy my office, bake, rest, sleep

In the past, this would have triggered massive guilt. Now, I see it as part of my process.

Because often, after a day of rest, the creativity returns – and I might find myself happily working in the evening, in complete flow.

Flow Doesn’t Mean You Don’t Work

Let’s be clear: choosing flow over hustle doesn’t mean you don’t work.

You still show up and take action and deliver

But you work:

✨ In a way that suits your energy

✨ In alignment with who you are

✨ Without forcing yourself into someone else’s formula

You’re not relying on “fairies” (even if we love the fairies ✨).
You’re simply choosing a way of working that honours you.

And that’s where the magic happens.

It All Starts With Reconnecting to You

The turning point for me was this:

👉 Allowing myself to reconnect with who I truly am
👉 Remembering the life and business I actually want
👉 Giving myself permission to do things differently

If you’re feeling burnt out by the hustle, misaligned with bro marketing, or exhausted by “doing all the things” – start by coming back to you.

What do you want your life to look like?
What kind of business do you want to run?
How do you want to feel on a Monday morning?

That’s where you’ll find the best answers to all those questions you’ve been seeking.
