I was too embarrassed to show this video!
I remember when I first started doing Facebook Lives, and I worried about how I looked, and would my wrinkles and my maternity weight show up on the screen so I had no confidence on camera.
This video was shot a few months ago, but I’ve not used it… I was too embarrassed to use it
New here? I write about video, journalism, PR and marketing. Here’s some more blog posts that might help you with your confidence on camera:
My mummy tummy shows up, and it’s just not very flattering. I’ve shot it without thinking and my mummy tummy is accentuated because it’s bunched up around my waist, and I’m sitting very badly. I’m not sitting straight, and I’m slouching.
In this video, I share how to feel more confident, but the reality is that my body language does not say “confidence.|
I filmed this video for about 3 days after my Father’s death. Sometimes we think we’re “fine” but actually we need to take a break and do things when we’re ready, and everything’s ready and in order.
Video can be a funny thing… with the right lighting and clothes, it can be this fabulous thing that flatters and hides a multitude of sins (my dodgy skin, my wrinkles, my bad hair… the list goes on!).
The extra pounds gained over Christmas made my dress a little too tight, and it didn’t look great. I felt self-conscious and I sat on the video, and didn’t use it.
But then I thought, what am I doing? I teach confidence on camera!
I decided, screw it, I’ll use it anyway, and you know what… we are ALWAYS our own worst critics!
If you’re worrying about how you look on screen, or holding off doing a Facebook Live because of how you look, or feel about yourself, you know what… the more you do something, the easier it gets, and the more you can move past your fears.
Don’t worry, you look just fine. We, the women, should like our bodies little bit more and not be affraid of what we see in the mirror.
Thank you, and you’re absolutely right 🙂
I think this is fine Lucy. Also I never thought of branding myself in the way of background colors and the frame work around me. Very interesting. I have so much to learn.
Thanks Janet! Colours and framing makes such a difference x
